The Sony E-mount Batis 18mm f/2.8 from ZEISS is an ultra-wide prime, well-suited to the interior, architectural, landscape, and astrophotography applications. Within the Distagon optical design, this lens uses a series of aspherical and anomalous partial dispersion elements to greatly reduce color fringing, distortion, and other aberrations to realize sharp, clear, and color-accurate imagery. A floating elements system is also employed for consistent performance throughout the focusing range. which highlights the focus distance and depth of field range for quickly recognizing your focusing parameters. As an autofocus lens, linear motors are used to deliver quick, quiet, and smooth focusing performance to suit both stills and video applications. however, can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 27mm equivalent focal length. Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture suits working in available-light conditions and is also ideal for astrophotography use. Distagon optical concept affords high sharpness, well-corrected image quality from edge to edge, and very low field curvature. Two aspherical elements, five elements made from anomalous partial dispersion glass, and a pair of aspherical elements also made from low dispersion glass are featured. ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections and provide greater contrast and color fidelity. The floating elements system helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the entire focusing range, from 9.8" to infinity. The integrated OLED display on the top of the lens shows the working focus distance as well as the depth of field range for quickly recognizing the parameters of focus in use, even when working in low-light conditions. For manual focusing, a rubberized ring offers greater tactile control for precise placement of focus.

Fine basket, lousy magnets: Look elsewhere
Build is nice, solid and the baskets fit snuggly without being too hard to remove. The WDT tool works well and came with a surfeit of needles. HOWEVER The tiny magnets holding the WDT in the handle aren’t glued in place and now come FLYING out when the tool is removed. One or two pull free and then shoot across the unit, pulling others out and ending up somewhere in the kitchen. Fortunately (because they’re REALLY small), they form a small column making it somewhat easier to track down. But it’s such a nuisance I now leave the tool out, so there’s a small dangerous hedgehog of verrrry thin needles in my kitchen we need to work around. Sub-optimal, sorta defeats the purpose of in-handle tool.

    Unlock your machine's potential
***Twist the WDT tool to remove dont try to just pull, or use your finger nails A slight twist will break the magnetic bond and the tool just comes out of the handle*** i got this to get away chemicals, hot acidic coffee possibly leaching plastic and aluminum that the stock portifilter is made from. This seems like a nice stainless by the looks and heft of it. Aluminium is bad for the brain and plastic is just bad. Function... Im not using a 200$ or more grinder or anything... Just fresh beans and a 30$ wancle amazon burr grinder and this is pulling beautiful bottomless shots that really helped me dial in better and see my channeling issues that intern lets me adjust and get better. The stock tapered basket prevents consistant tamps and keeps you from using off the shelf filter papers at the bottom of the basket. i have to use a gram or 2 more for my dose but that just means stronger drinks. I can tell visually im getting more extraction now that im dialed in by the color after adding milk.

    It doesn’t even fit
It doesn’t fit our Breville Barista Pro because the portafilter head is too tall. Such a disappointment. Update: Absolutely horrible customer support as well. Their only attempt to rectify the situation was by double checking their own portafilter they have and confirming it works. It’s equivalent of “we investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong.” No replacements, no willingness to accept constructive criticism in order to change the dimensions slightly by decreasing the height of the portafilter head by even a millimeter to make it work, nothing. Just a slap in the face telling me to return it and be gone. Avoid this product.

    More work than it’s worth
It was great quality and the weight was nice, but it was odd having the open bottom and no spout to dribble into a cup when making an espresso. It was difficult to get the wire tool out of the end of the handle, making it difficult to use. I was not that impressed and it’s quite expensive.
